Dog Ticks - I Love Veterinary Medicine

How much do you know about dog ticks? Can you name all the common ticks that affect our furry friends?

There are a number of ticks that affect dogs and majority belong to either family of Ixodidae (hard ticks) or Argasidae (soft ticks). Ticks are ectoparasites (external parasites) and they feed on the blood of mammals (e.g. dogs), birds and sometimes both reptiles and amphibians.

The team at I Love Veterinary Medicine have put together an infographic highlighting the different ticks that affect our furry dog friends (In America).

You may notice that the infographic does not include the tick Ixodes holocyclus AKA the paralysis tick which is found in Australia.
